Artists Statement

I have always had a deep love of the unique environment of South Louisiana. Interest and beauty can often be found in places that get overlooked in daily routines.

As a lifelong resident of South Louisiana, I find endless inspiration in the quiet beauty of the region’s natural landscapes—its winding roads, live oaks, and filtered light. My work often begins with photography: a way to capture fleeting moments of shadow and light in the places that move me. From there, I translate these images into watercolor, to create a sense of place, and mood.

My style leans toward realism, but always through the lens of emotion and atmosphere. I aim to reflect not only what a place looks like, but how it feels—rooted, alive, and changing with the seasons. Each painting is both a record of a place and a meditation on stillness and observation.

Through this process, I hope to preserve and share the beauty of Louisiana’s landscapes, inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with the places that surround them. Or simply to notice the often unseen beauty that can be right in front of you.
