Artist’s Statement
I have always had a deep love of the unique environment of South Louisiana. Interest and beauty can often be found in places that get overlooked in daily routines.
As a lifelong resident of South Louisiana, I find endless inspiration in the quiet beauty of the region’s natural landscapes—its winding roads, live oaks, and filtered light. My work often begins with photography; from there, I interpret these images into watercolor to create a sense of place and mood.
My style is impressionistic but leans toward realism. By adding a layer of personal interpretation, I aim to reflect not only what a place looks like, but also my own feelings and impressions — capturing places that are rooted, alive, and changing with the seasons. Each painting is both a record of a place and a study from the viewer’s perspective.
Through this process, I hope to preserve and share the beauty of Louisiana’s landscapes, inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with the places that surround them and to see the familiar with a fresh perspective.
